Learn how to reduce exposures to solvent vapors when spraying or screening
June 01, 2010
Exposures to organic solvents in lacquer thinners and screen printing inks can cause respiratory irritation, skin irritation, and neurologic problems. Scientists from the Health Hazard Evaluation (HHE) program in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) evaluated businesses in the sign industry and made recommendations to reduce potential health hazards. See what you can do to reduce exposures by reading their HHE reports, whether you manage printing and spraying operations or work directly with solvents yourself.
