Todd Hanson handles the graphics on his son’s bike

“There’s nothing like having the best pinstriper in the world for a dad,” says Derek Hanson, who is the service manager at Cycleworks in Whitehouse, Ohio. “I’ve grown up around hot rods my whole life and now I finally have one of my own. It’s a Trek Emonda SLR with Dura Ace 9000 11 speed groupset and a vintage polished aluminum Nokon housing. Thanks, Dad, for the paintwork and one-of-a-kind pinstriping.”
Derek is talking about Todd Hanson, who is no stranger to SignCraft readers. Todd’s signs and hot graphics on semi-trucks, hot rods, street cars, guitars, kids’ peddle cars and vintage gas pumps and cans have shown up in the magazine many times over the years. Now we can add “bicycle” to the list.
“The bike was already painted matte black,” says Todd, “and Derek told me he wanted a hot-rod look. So I stuck with the holy trinity of hot-rod colors—off-white and red on black.
