Design Clinic: Sign faces for an auto repair shop

The secondary message uses our Futura typeface again in upper- and lowercase. It tells what type of automotive work is provided at this establishment. I intentionally used italics on Full Service as italics are somewhat more difficult to read. This will encourage the reader to see those bold sans serif Futura letters first, just a split second before everything else is seen.

Creating message blocks We all know that nothing is ever perfect, but with some contrast in types, color, shape and size we can develop a better-looking advertisement that conveys a much clearer message in three seconds or less.

So the three separate messages are:

  • Winkler Service in warm colors
  • Automotive in neutral black
  • Maintenance in teal
