Design & Price: 32-sq.-ft. freestanding sign

In every issue, SignCraft gives a few sign makers an imaginary project. We ask them to do a sketch of the sign they might have produced, and to quote a price for the job. Most of the details are left to the designer’s imagination. The object is to see how different sign makers approach the same project. Here’s the scenario these sign makers were given:
New owners have purchased a fitness center and are changing the name. It is in an office/warehouse complex, and they are allowed to have a freestanding sign of up to 32 sq. ft. in the grass area between the street and the parking lot. At present, the building has only the word FITNESS in red channel letters on the storefront. Their budget is moderate, so this is a middle-of-the-road project. They do not have a logo. Make a drawing of what you might have suggested to this customer and quote a price.
