One of the things I really love about the sign game is the sheer variety of projects you can become involved in. One day you may be on a project that’s literally 2-by-2-in., then the next day you’re doing a vehicle, a window, a billboard, or an entire building. The list is beautifully endless. I’ve been a signwriter for over fifty years now, and I’m still coming across jobs I’ve never done before. (Don’t anyone mention the Alzheimer’s!)

I really enjoy finding things to incorporate into signs, so this project fell right in my favorite zone. Slim Dusty was one of Australia’s best-known country singers, and one of his most famous songs is called “The Pub With No Beer.” The Pub With No Beer is at Taylors Arm, a tiny town in the Nambucca Valley on the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

I don’t know which came first, the song or the name of the pub, but the pub’s been there for a hundred years or more. The countryside is beautiful, the pub’s got tons of character, and is well worth a visit. In spite of its name, it has plenty of good beer and a great food menu.
