A while back, our friend Peter McCullen, see profile, sent us photos of a collaboration between him and Jeff Lang. Peter was in his native Ireland at the time, and Jeff was a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, sign maker (who now lives in Oakland, California.) Peter and Jeff met in 1997 at the Letterheads meet in Belvedere, Illinois, and have been friends ever since.

Though 3400 miles apart, Jeff has handled all or part of the production on close to 20 of Peter’s 3D sign projects over the years. This sign for St. Peter’s School in Drogheda, Ireland, is a great example of their collaborative efforts. Working from Peter’s design and specs, Jeff fabricated the sign then crated and shipped it to Peter’s Dublin sign shop.

“Being mostly retired now,” says Peter, “I still get the odd request for a sign project like this one. It was for my sister-in-law, who heads up a school in my old hometown. I did the design then passed it on to Jeff who regularly texted me photo updates on its progress. He then popped it in the mail so that myself and  Anthony could handle the simple install on a sunny day.”
