Tips & Tricks: More help on vinyl removal

I just read Brad Getter’s excellent article on vinyl removal. Vinyl may be quicker to put on than paint, but getting it off—oy vey!

I occasionally use a 4-in. scraper for vinyl removal, but I generally use a standard razor blade scraper. I find the 40mm (about 1.5-in.) blade is not as hard to push through the vinyl as is the 4-in. blade. It’s not as tiring and you don’t lose enough in speed to be a worry. It’s just my personal preference. I use the same angled slicing technique that Brad described.
